KLAUS ZYLLA – AHNENFOLGE

Ancestry – the title of our first exhibition in the new year 2016 promises a journey into the past and an insight into the world of artist Klaus Zylla. His creatures, often inspired by literary models, populate fantastical landscapes, reminiscent of prehistoric beings, connecting the past with the present. They line up in different stages of development like a succession of generations. Important artistic elements are passed on from one to the next, but the artist also constantly reinvents himself.

Born in Cottbus in 1953, Klaus Zylla began an apprenticeship in screen printing in 1977 and then transferred to the Berlin Weißensee Art Academy. In 1982, he was appointed workshop manager for printmaking at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts and founded his own screen printing workshop in East Berlin in 1985. Since 1986, he has been working as a freelancer between Berlin and Portugal.

For the fourth time, DIE GALERIE is presenting the versatile artist in an extensive exhibition featuring works from the 1990s and 2000s as well as numerous new paintings and drawings.
