Italian sculptor Riccardo Cordero (born 1942) studied at the Accademia Albertina in Turin, where he also held the chair of sculpture until 2000. His work was featured in solo exhibitions at the Venice Biennale in 1978 and 2011.
The internationally renowned artist lives and works in Turin. His monumental, abstract-geometric bronze and steel sculptures can be found in private and public collections worldwide, including in China, Taiwan, the USA, Germany, and Italy. Following in the tradition of constructive-concrete art, his dynamic linear structures explore space, balance, and the idea of the universe as a formal principle.
1942: Riccardo Cordero is born in Alba, province of Cuneo, Italy.
1945: Moves with his family to Turin.
1960: Begins participating in some of the most renowned national and international exhibitions.
1963: First solo exhibition at Promotrice di Belle Arti di Asti.
1965: Finishes his studies at the art school in Turin and the Accademia Albertina di Belle Arti.
1978: Is invited to present a group of works at the XLIII. Venice Biennial.
1992: Is offered the Chair of Sculpture at the Accademia Albertina di Belle Arti. He holds the position of Head of Sculpture until 2000.
1995: Becomes president of the Associazione Piemontese Arte.
2007: Realizes travelling exhibition in Europe and South America, including in Spain, Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay.
2011: Second participation in the Venice Biennial.
2016: Winner of the Tide Competition with installation of a sculpture at the Sculpture Park in Haining, China.
Riccardo Cordero lives and works in Turin, Italy.
