South Korean artist Chun Kwang Young (born 1944) was born in Seoul and now lives and works between Seoul and the USA. He attended university in Seoul and later studied at the Philadelphia College of Art.
His international breakthrough came with his series of works entitled “Aggregations”: relief-like structures consisting of thousands of styrofoam triangles wrapped in Korean mulberry paper (hanji). His artworks combine traditional materials with contemporary abstraction and explore themes of memory, materiality, and collective identity.
